The Year 2025

A Look Back at 2025

Here is a brief look back at 2025.  God used us in a variety of ways, bringing us closer as a family and a church.  I can't wait to see what takes place in 2026!

Christmas Eve Candlelight Service

Our Christmas Eve candlelight service was a special time for all ages. Luke's account of Christ's birth was read to the children, and each child received a little gift. Our families also shared in the Lord's Communion as each family was prayed over. We ended the service with Silent Night as we passed the symbolic light of Christ to one another.

Sign Work/Completion

Our church sing is finally up.  We did some training on the digital part.  So, the sign project has been completed, and we are not using our sign.

Fall Harvest Fellowship

We had a blast at our harvest festival this fall.  I want to give a special thank you to the Dodson family for hosting this event at their farm.  We had a fantastic time of fun, food, and fellowship.  We had around 60+ people attend.  Thought the food was great, and the conversations that took place were even better.  God has truly blessed in so many ways!

Weather Repair and Other Work Projects

Church Mission Trip
Harlan Co., KY 2025

We had an excellent time sharing with Cumberland Missionary Baptist Church in Harlan County, Kentucky. We partnered with them and their parachurch mission, "Sacks of Love." Those who were able to go this year were able to bond in new ways, share the gospel, and work on multiple projects. I'm eager to see how this trip will impact PBC and our community. God is so good!

The music featured in this video includes "I Trust God," "Boneless," "Our Father," and "Holy Holy."

Camp Crossway - Pawnee, Oklahoma

Aiden and Bro. Bob represented Payneville Baptist Church on a mission trip directed by Ovesen Heights Baptist Church to Camp Crossway in Pawnee, Oklahoma. During our mission trip, we provided a day camp for the local children along with various construction jobs on the campgrounds.
We want to give a special shout-out to Camp Crossway and its leaders, Jimmy, Penny, and Ashley, along with their camp staff, for allowing us to partner with them this summer.

Look Back at 2024

New Year's Gathering 2024-2025

The kids love it because it has caused an extra week of winter break.  Unfortunately, it has caused us to miss our corporate fellowship at our regular church meetings.
In addition, on January 10th, we received another 3 to 5 inches of snow on top of what we already had on the ground. The pure white snow is a beautiful sight and a reminder of how the blood of Christ has washed us as white as snow, but it has also caused havoc on our everyday lives as a church and individuals.
Somehow, we allowed time to slip away and missed the countdown by about two minutes.  We were gathering around the sparkling grape juice and trying to get everyone situated when we noticed it was already past midnight.  So, we made our own countdown, bringing in a New Year in which we know God has great things in store for us.

Winter Wonder Land - The First Week

On Sunday, January 5, 2025, a winter storm came through, causing us to cancel church for the first Sunday of the year. We got about 4 or 5 inches of snow, which was then covered by about 1/2 inch of ice, followed by a bit more snow. The ice was thick enough to walk on without breaking through to the snow underneath.
We had to cancel our Wednesday night meetings on January 8th as well.
We started the New Year's with fun, food, and fellowship.  This year's New Year's event was held in the middle of the week.  With its timing and a bug going around, we were about half of our regular people.  Nonetheless, those who could make it had a blast.  The pastor was even caught playing some cards this year.
We started at 7:30. The food table filled up as people came in. There were all kinds of goodies to snack on throughout the evening. The adults played various games. Most of the kids seemed more interested in playing some miniature basketball that Sam B. had set up.

VBS - Day Camp
June 7, 2025

Picture
We had a blast this year with our VBS Day Camp.  We had 21 kids pass through, and I pray that we were able to plant the gospel seed into fertile soil.  I also want to express my gratitude to our volunteers for all the hard work they have done and will do as we follow up with the kids who came through. I would like to extend a special thank you to Melody Dodson and Susie Barr for serving as our VBS directors.  They did a phenomenal job!
